I'm going to Disneyland in December and every time I go I stay in the Days Inn. Which is fine, but this year I want to stay in a cool hotel. So I was wondering what your favorite hotel near Disneyland (in California) is?Your favorite hotel near Disneyland?
If you can afford it, try one of the Disney hotels. If you try the DL Hotel, ask for one of the refurbished rooms. There are a lot of good deals out there now.
If what you want is cool, try Hotel Menage.
You might also try Howard Johnson. It's very close to the main entrance, has a 50s vibe, and was designed by the same architect who designed the original Disneyland Hotel. There are also some rooms with a park view. Use this code: lkms for 15% off. If you have an entertainment book, you can get even better deals ($79/night for a park view room!)
All that being said, my favorites remain the Grand Californian (yes, it's a splurge) and the good old DL Hotel.
If you can afford it, the coolest hotels are on the Disneyland Resort themeselves.
My favorites are 1) the Grand Californian and 2) the Disneyland Hotel. I haven't stayed at Paradise Pier, yet, but you cannot beat any of the three DL hotels for "coolness."
When looking for a "cooler off-property" hotel, look for the ones with complimentary shuttles (most of them have them) to the parks; if the hotels aren't within walking distance.
I recommend looking for hotels that are within half a mile (at the most) of DL. The bigger (name brand) ones will have better amenities (and far fewer roaches) than many of the budget ones. However--they'll usually be pricier too.
Good luck, and whatever hotel you stay in, enjoy your December visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.Your favorite hotel near Disneyland?
Grand Californian is the best! In December I am staying at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time so I can't say how that might be. However, when I do not stay at these hotels I and my family always stay at the Ramada in on Katella. There is another Ramada in but the one on Katella Ave is newer and cleaner. It's in walking distance to the park and if you get a room facing Disneyland you can see the fireworks display perfectly from your room window. I would recommend the Ramada on Katella Ave.
My favorite hotel near Disneyland is the Marriott next to the Anaheim Convention Center. They have greatly reduced rates if you are a AAA member, they run on the ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) system throughout the day with buses directly to and from Disneyland Resort, they have a bar that serves food and beverages, they have a dining establishment located in the hotel that serves three meals a day, they have a coffee shop (Starbucks), a great gift shop that even sells beer, and if you get a room on the front high up you can see the Disneyland Fireworks from the balcony. All in all, it's my favorite hotel, and we visit Disneyland over 20 times a year!
My family likes to go to the Embassy Suites, they are about $159 a night, that's with all the taxes. They have a full breakfast with omlettes and other nice breakfast foods. Also the pool and spa is open until midnight.
Any of the Disney hotels I guess...
Grand Californian being the best, but it's expensive. :(
