I gotta disagree with Sam and Peedlepup. One HUGE advantage of staying close to Disneyland (or even on the property) is the ability to go back to your room in the middle of the day for a rest.
We have stayed at the Howard Johnson, the Candy Cane Inn, and the Anaheim Plaza, and been satisfied. Of the 3, the Howard Johnson had the nicest facilities and the friendliest staff. Two places you DON'T want to stay are "Best Value Inn" and "America's Best Value". They are right next to each other on Ball Road, and are cheap in every sense of the word. We booked here originally because it was less than $100. When we arrived, because of the similar names, we went to the wrong hotel. After going next door to the correct hotel, we saw that the rooms there were not any better. In fact, our room was so bad, we canceled our remaining nights and went over to the Howard Johnson. For the extra 20 bucks, it was well worth it.
My advice is that you get what you pay for; stay close to the resort on Harbor Blvd.

I stayed in Best Western Palm Garden Inn, its about 10 min drive away from Anaheim - its in Westminster and in a brillaint location. It cost me about $60 per night and the room was lovely.

As I always tell "askers", and as "Sam's" answer validates, the most economical hotels for visitors to Disneyland are NOT right next to the park, but are instead in the cities that border Anaheim. They are all just a few minutes drive away.
When you stay next to, or on property, at Disneyland, hotel operators know you are probably a tourist and charge you accordingly. If you stay in neighboring cities such as Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Stanton, or Westminster, your status is unknown. You may be a tourist, business person or ordinary traveler so it's less likely they will over charge you.
there are a lot of like motel 8 s, and motel sixes. the disneyland hotel is really nice but expensive. there are also some best westerns and stuff like that
I work in Anaheim from time to time. They have 100's of hotels and motels. Contact the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and ask them to mail you their brochures. They have some really nice magazines with tons of stuff listed.

I recommend the Anaheim Camelot Inn %26amp; Suites. Depending on the time of year you go the prices can vary my trips cost me about $119 a night. It's 5 minutes from the main entrance to Disneyland and Disney's Cali Adventure. If your still not sure hit up Trip Advisor they have great reviews on that site just type in Anaheim hotels.
