Is a person who lives in the US legally required to pay Tax by law? If so, can you provide me with the source?

Like I asked. Curious because I can't find anything...

maybe its on Jekyll Island......Is a person who lives in the US legally required to pay Tax by law? If so, can you provide me with the source?
Your taxes pay for the military, law enforcement, roads %26amp; highways, fire department, and other nice things that you take for granted. I gladly pay my taxes but it doesn't mean I want to give too much away. Hope this helps.
Many people have become tired of answering the same question. While you may have not asked if there is a tax law, there have been many who have previously.

To answer your question, there is a law that states a person living in the United States, and that includes all 50 states, is required to file returns and pay taxes if their income exceeds the standard deduction. The income tax laws are codified as Title 26 of the U.S. Code. You can read it at http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/26/ or at http://uscode.house.gov/download/title_2鈥?/a> Title 26 is law and the courts will enforce it. The sections that apply to most people are 1, 61, 62, 63, 3402, 6011, 6012, 6151 and several others.

Title 26 is known as prima facie law or evidence of the actual laws passed by Congress. To read the actual laws passed by Congress, you have to go to the U.S. Statutes at Large. For the most part, these are not available online. However, they can be read in most Federal Depository Libraries and most law libraries. You can find an FDL in your state at http://catalog.gpo.gov/fdlpdir/FDLPdir.j鈥?/a>

Our current tax laws get their basic structure from the Tax Reform Act of 1986. You can read it in Volume 100 starting on page 2085 in the U.S. Statutes at Large. Various other acts of Congress have amended that law in the years since.

I have a question for you. How did you come up with "states could charge themselves taxes but cannot do it to the people"? That is a falsehood. The 16th amendment doesn't say that or support such a statement. The 16th amendment allows the federal government to tax income regardless of the source of that income WITHOUT apportionment. Is a person who lives in the US legally required to pay Tax by law? If so, can you provide me with the source?
By law, anyone who makes an annual income is required to pay taxes, if you don't you will eventually get caught by the IRS and get audited for all your belongings. In some states like in California where I live, there is a minimum annual income you have to pass in order to qualify to pay taxes. I used the following source:

I believe the law you're referring to is called. . .

"We have all the guns and we'll bloody ship you to any one of the several dozen secret prisons which isn't Gitmo if you cause too much trouble. And you know it. Now smile while you fill out those forms, citizen. Our facial recognition software is watching and Obama supports the wiretap program. Have a nice day."

EDIT***************

You're quite right to ask this question. The law doesn't exist; people just assume that it does. Aaron Russo, the producer of the 80's film, "Trading Places", made a solid little documentary on the subject. You can watch it here for free . .

Cheers!
No, only those earning above a certain threshold have to pay. People can live here without paying any taxes.

I believe it is the 16th Amendment that sanctions the federal income tax.
