Best Honeymoon Beach Destinations on GA/SC/N-FL Atlantic Coast?

After spending a couple of nights in Savannah, we would like to spend 2 more nights on or very close to the beach somewhere between Charleston, SC and St. Augustine, FL. The closer to Savannah the better, and price is a consideration as well. We aren't interested in a party town, but would like nice shops and restaurants we could walk to.

So far the one I've found that seems to be what we're looking for is the St Simons Inn by the Lighthouse. Other places I'm intrested in are Hilton Head, Tybee Island and Jekyll Island.

Any reccomendations on towns, beaches, hotels, attractions or restaurants would be greatly appreciated!Best Honeymoon Beach Destinations on GA/SC/N-FL Atlantic Coast?
I would highly recommend Charleston, SC. Downtown is absolutely amazing. It's a great town for walking and sightseeing. The old houses, churches and cemeteries are amazing. There are tons of shops and restaurants around too. I highly recommend stopping into the visitors center downtown and talking to one of the "advisers" they can give you maps of downtown with information on the houses and other buildings and let you in on some little known treasures around town. It's the perfect town to walk around and enjoy the sights and each others company. If I had my honeymoon to do over again I would definitely go there! There are tons of hotels in downtown, but you will come out much cheaper if you stay in a hotel away from downtown and then drive into downtown for the day. There are plenty of parking garages and lots around where you can park and walk the town. Congratulations and have fun!

***Edit*** I don't think there is direct beach access in Charleston, however there are several beaches close by. There is access at Folly's Beach (about 11 miles away) and at Sullivan's Island (about 10 miles away) Here is a PDF guide to all the public beach accesses in S.C. http://www.scdhec.net/environment/ocrm/p鈥?/a>

If you want to consider staying at either of these places instead of in Charleston here are some links of other things to see and do:

Sullivan's Island: http://www.sciway.net/city/sullivansisla鈥?/a> (There are no hotels/motels at Sullivan's Island)

Folly's Beach: http://www.sciway.net/city/follybeach.ht鈥?/a> (There is one hotel at Folly's Beach. It's waterfront and is a Holiday Inn.)

There are more historical sights and sightseeing at Sullivan's Island, but far more restaurants, bars and pubs in Folly's Island.

If you just want to go somewhere and relax on the beach, Hilton Head Island does have some beautiful beachs. While it doesn't have the historic charm that Charleston does, it offers nature preserves, tons of resturants, spas, and golf. Hilton Head can be quite expensive though. (Not sure when you're going, but during the summer months, you'll be looking to pay at least $120+ a night for a hotel room.) The one bonus though is that it's only about 35 miles from Savannah. (While Charleston is about 100 miles)

Best of luck!Best Honeymoon Beach Destinations on GA/SC/N-FL Atlantic Coast?
It's a little bit further South that you seem to want to go, but Melbourne Beach in Florida is stunning and not very touristy. It's an East Coast Surf Town wheer you will see kids riding their bikes and skateboards with a surfboard in thier arm. It's awesome. Also has many bed and breakfasts and great local food. Downtown tends to have many local art fetivals also. I really love it there. I am a Floridian and when I want to get away from the normal crowded Florida Beaches, thats where I go. Not to mention that Cocoa Beach, Sebastian Inlet (great for camping), and Daytona Beach are all about 30 minutes away if you are in the mood for more touristy loctations. One thing I can say, I love Florida;-) Oh! And there is Venice Beach, Shark Tooth Capital of the World, where you can walk along the beach and find all types of sharkteeth, but no sharks;-) Also, if you take a boat tour, you can go diving and snorkeling for Megladon Teeth. It's really cool.
