Disney Vacation Club?

We visit Disney World about once a year. I am having trouble seeing the benefit of joining the Disney Vacation Club. I would love to hear from members and their reasons for joining.Disney Vacation Club?
Wow. Some of these answers are really ads. We joined the DVC last January after going there on WDW's $1,500 7 day package at the Pop Century Resort.

We took the tour of Saratoga Springs and looked great. Since we have two boys (4%26amp;3), we made a committment to the Mouse for timeshares generally scared me. Disney runs a quality operation.

The wife %26amp; I spent a long weekend at The Sagamore in Lake George with DVC points. We are staying at Saratoga for the first time in a couple of weeks in a 2-bedroom and am excited.

Granted, you can stay at many other places with DVC points. Don't bother listening to the fact that you can use them for Disney Crusies. the points required for one person is likely more than you can be able to afford to purchase in a year.

The DVC membership lasts 48 years. Once the approx. $17,000 cost is free and clear (about $175/mo. for 10 yrs), I hope to be traveling the world in my 50's %26amp; 60's annually glad that I made the committment to the Mouse.
While the program is wonderful, it is extremely costly! The monthly payments are about the same as you'll find with any timeshare program, but the start up fee are in the thousands and most American families cannot afford it.

My family owns a timeshare program with VRI Resorts (formerly ORE) and we have loved it! Visit the website at: http://www.vriresorts.com/

We visit Orlando about once a year, or more, as well. VRI offers a timeshare at the Fantasyworld Vacation Villas, which is located just 5 minutes from the Walt Disney World Resort. We save money on all of our vacations this way. Our condo also has a full kitchen, so we purchase food at the grocery store and save money on eating out as well.

Have a great time!Disney Vacation Club?
We visit Disney World twice a year and we've considered the DVC many times, but we just decided that it wasn't necessary. All it does is cover where you stay. Its not like it covers tickets and everyhting and besides we like staying at a new Disney resort every trip. It might have been an okay thing to join if it was just a flat payment to be in it, but then you have annual fees and its just not worth it to us.

They boast that with it you can use the DVC points to travel wherever, like all over the world, but we didn't see that as a big bonus. If we're talking about Disney, then lets just concentrate on Disney World. We don't care about using a Disney Vacation Club to travel anywhere else.

Bottom line, it wasn't worth it to us.
Have you ordered the free Disney Vacation Club DVD from the Disney Vacation Club website? If you haven't already, you should. It gives a lot of information and has reviews from Members of the DVC. I notice that a lot of people seem to think that if you're a Member of the DVC you may only stay at your Disney Vacation Club Resort home, and that's definitely not true. It explains in the free DVD that you may use your points to stay at any of the Resorts on Walt Disney World property. And you can stay at a different one each time you go if you'd like. I'm pretty sure you may use your points towards stays at the Disneyland Resort, the other Disney Parks around the world, and the Disney Cruise Line, as well as different destinations around the world. This one couple was explaining that they loved Disney's Polynesian Resort and always stayed there and with the DVC they could. That's how I would be. I am a devoted fan and Guest of Disney's Polynesian Resort and wouldn't dream of stepping down a level to one of the DVC Resorts, so I think that's great that you can stay at any of the Resorts you want.

I'm not a part of the DVC, but I hope to be some day. If I could easily afford it, I would definitely be a part of it right now. I think it's great. If you're a true fan of the Disney Parks, you'll love it.

I don't quite understand how you're having a hard time understanding the benefits. Have you looked at the Disney Vacation Club website? It list the benefits...

"In addition to saving on future vacations, having the flexibility to select from over 500 Member Getaways around the world, and enjoying the comforts of home when you stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort, Vacation Club Members can also receive these additional valuable benefits:

* Discounts on select dining, attractions, recreation and entertainment, including discounts on select Theme Park Annual Passes at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts!

* A dedicated team of Disney Cast Members to help with all your vacation planning needs, including making reservations, arranging air transportation, renting a car or choosing a destination.

* Disney events, from special Theme Park attraction previews to taking over an entire Disney Cruise Line ship.

* Special Member publications that offer "behind-the-scenes" looks at upcoming Disney events and new Disney attractions."
I don't see the benefits. The benefit is for Disney
I don't see the point in DVC. It is not for life like many other timeshares where you can pass it along to your children and so on. We purchased a timeshare in Hawaii and can trade into Disney for a small fee if we want to and this way here we have it forever and ever. Disney's is like only 60 something years or so.

Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.
