Animal Kingdom Lodge or Old Key West?

Me and my family of four will either be staying in a two-bedroom vacation home in AKL or OKW for 11 nights during Christmas Time. We will be staying with DVC (Disney Vacation Club). Which resort do you prefer? Have you stayed at either, if so, how was your experience? Thanks! I appreciate it!Animal Kingdom Lodge or Old Key West?
Which part of AKL? Is it Jambo House or Kidani Village? If it's Kidani, I'd say stay there, since it just opened on May 1, you'll be there only six months after it's opening.



OKW is the original DVC resort, and had the biggest rooms of all of them. The studios for example at OKW are bigger than those at Animal Kingdom Villas.



If you want to talk about proximity, I'd say OKW is closer to all the theme parks but Animal Kingdom. It's also a short boat ride from OKW to Downtown Disney.



Regarding dining on site, AKV wins by a lot. Boma and Jiko are both great restaurants, and the Kindani Village section has a brand new restaurant called Sanaa which is already getting positive reviews.



I realize I haven't answered your question, because I'm pointing out good points of each of them. If I were forced to choose though, I'd go for the Animal Kingdom Villas.
Both hotels are great I'm part of the Disney Vacation Club so i go to Disney a lot ive stayed at both hotels!



Old Key West-They have the biggest 2 bed-room rooms. Usually when ever i go there thats what we get. The pool area is nice it has a pool, basketball and tennis, and a playground. If you go there i suggest that you request the buildings close to the lobby because if you dont you will be pretty far from all of it the place is just enormous



Animal Kingdom Lodge- This place is very nice especially if you got kids. They will love seeing the animals outside of your room. The resturant Boma there is a great African/Ameriacn buffet great for all ages. Rooms aren't as big or as nice as Old Key West but they are still nice. The pool is also very nice there and the theme of the whole place is pretty awsome. They have a new wing of DVC member rooms called Khadani Village I will be staying there next week but i already seen a model of the rooms at Saratoga Springs and the room will be nice. They are brand new rooms that just opened this year.



So ita all up to you n your kids whether they would play basketball n be in the arcade at Old Key West or see the animals outside your room at Animal KingdomAnimal Kingdom Lodge or Old Key West?
Kidani is brand new.

You only have one restaurant choice and if you aren't into Indian food you will have to go to Jambo house for other food options. There isn't a quick service option over at Kidani Village except for a few items that will be offered at the pool bar.



The pool / play area seems to be better at Kidani.



I'd chose Jambo House over Kidani Village for a few reasons.



Two sinks outside the bathroom in the savannah studio vs one at Kidani.



No counter/quick service location at Kidani and we like Mara.



Boma's vs Sanaa (the menu doesn't look like something we'd enjoy).

Boma's breakfast buffet is one of the best at Disney.



More activities at Jambo.



If you stay at Kidani you either have to catch a bus or walk to Jambo house for Mara, Boma's etc. So be prepared to do lots of walking at Kidani.
By far AKL! and if you stay there make sure to try to get into Jiko for dinner. The food is wonderful...a little pricey but worth it in my book..I believe it is a 3 star rated restaurant.
animal kingdom logde. its a great excperiance, excspecialy if u look out the window and can see animals. i would consider it if ur an animal lover

i prefer old key west. in AKL it felt like i was living in a petting zoo :/
