If you purchase the nonrefundable internet special from Southwest Airlines can you upgrade it to a refundable full priced ticket for the express purpose of cancelling it and getting a full refund? (I know this sounds tricky and unethical but I need my money more than sw airlines does, or maybe I will just go on the trip to San Francisco afterall as I am really undecided)Can you upgrade a nonrefundable SW ticket in order to get a full refund?
they may let you upgrade to a full Y fare, check with them, with my airline you pay the change penalty and any difference in fare, then when in full Y you can cancel anytime for a full refund .......call them
=)
No, but you can cancel it, and they will issue you a flight credit for future travel. Can you upgrade a nonrefundable SW ticket in order to get a full refund?
sorry no, but they will give you a flight credit to use within 12 months.
If you upgrade to refundable ticket and then cancel, only the refundable portion of the ticket will be returned to you. The monetary value that was non-refundable remains just that. In other words, if the original ticket was $100 and you paid an additional $500 to upgrade it, you will only get the $500 back, not the original $100.
Also, be aware that often an used ticket's value expires within a year if not sooner. Read the fine print carefully!
