Is the Disney Vacation Club a good idea?

My family and I visit DIsneyland 2 or 3 times a year and stay 4-5 nights per stay. We always stay in the Grand Californian at Disneyland. The club seems aimed at Disney World not Disneyland...Is the Disney Vacation Club a good idea?
Actually, the Disney Vacation Club is a Vacation Ownership plan that allows you to visit anywhere in the world. For years, there have been DVC properties at Walt Disney World, Vero Beach Florida, and Hilton Head Island SC. Plans are underway for Hawaiian resorts now too.

While I am a Disney fanatic, I opted against a Disney Vacation Club membership and instead went to TrendWest (now called Worldmark by Wyndham). Why? The Disney Vacation club is more of a "lease" than an "ownership." At some point in the future, your ownership interest in the club ceases and reverts back to the Walt Disney Company, while with most of the other companies, you purchase a real estate interest (membership) which is yours in perpetuity.
The Disneyland Vacation Club is currently adding rooms to the Grand Californian to accommodate its members interested in visiting Disneyland. Up to now it has mainly been a Florida-centric promotion. Is the Disney Vacation Club a good idea?
It's a timeshare, just like any other timeshare. Look online at all the people trying to sell out. I think the fees are quite high, just like all other timeshares.
