Nashville on the cheap

I'm going to Nashville next month on company business. I will be staying at the Opryland Hotel. Can anyone recommend some good places around there to eat/listen to music/drink that aren't geared towards tourists? I'm on a budget, plus I like to get the "locals experience" when I travel. I won't have access to a car. THANKS!Nashville on the cheap
I have a question - If you're looking for Nashville on the cheap, why are you staying at the Opryland Hotel? You could save money not staying there and rent a car.

If you're looking for some real Nashville activities, I'd suggest going downtown - 2nd Avenue is a favorite of lots of locals. Wildhorse Saloon would really be good. To avoid places geared towards tourists, don't go come during CMA Fest - it used to be called Fan Fair, and it's the beginning of June.

If you have to stay at Opryland Hotel, you can go to places in the hotel. They're probably more "Nashville" and less tourist than you'd expect. But don't bother going to Opry Mills, the nearby shopping center. It's laid out poorly, and there's not much there that's truly local.
