Return flight already booked change date by 4 days for death-full fare charged to change-any chance of refund?

Had a return flight ticket for may 12 changed it to May 8 because Dad died. Got charged the full fare by sw airlines - any chance of getting a refund of any type?Return flight already booked change date by 4 days for death-full fare charged to change-any chance of refund?
when you call the airline did you tell them why you need to return early but if you didn't tell them
Sorry to say, but it is unlikely that they would ever consider any reduction in the cost. The reasons that people make changes don't really matter to the airlines.

It is a risk that almost everyone takes these days, by buying discounted, restricted tickets. All of the rules that apply to the ticket are usually available to read when you buy the ticket - but I seriously doubt that 1 person in 100 even starts to look at them, maybe 1 in 500 actually reads the entire document, and, finally, perhaps 1 in 1000 understand what the rules mean in real life situations.

My condolences on the loss of your father.Return flight already booked change date by 4 days for death-full fare charged to change-any chance of refund?
Call the airline and ask for a bereavement fare, you will need to pay full amount of the fare and when you produce a death certificate to the airline you will receive part payment back. unless you already have a death cert then you will clearly pay the lower fare.
1st off sorry to hear about your loss and yes there is...its called a bereavement fare.....keep all your records and when you get back home you need to get a direct line to the airlines refund department...what airline are you flying on?
There are some airlines that would allow discounts if one shows a Death Certificate of person related to travel. But I can't remember what the fares are called...
