What has your experience been with the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) outside of Orlando?

I am thinking about buying points so I can vacation each year through the DVC. But, if for some reason I chose not to go to WDW or it's counterpart in CA , I was wondering if others were happy with that choice. Has anyone had experience with the DVC outside of FLA and CA? They promote 500 Resorts in 6 Continents, but I was wondering what anyones personal experience has been with this (i.e. the resorts in europe, asia and australia).

I can not answer your question from personal experience ~ 2 friends are DVC members ~ thay have only stayed at WDW.

I am a DVC member but have never used my points for anything but stays at WDW or DL in CA.



There are, as you mention, many other destinations you can go to using your points. As of this year, DVC changed the company with whom you can exchange to go to other destinations. They now use RCI International. They have a good reputation, and in fact, my in-laws have a timeshare with them and like it a lot.



Keep in mind that there are rules which apply when you use your points for stays outside of Disney Resorts. Also, your points don't go as far as when you stay with Disney.



I would suggest you make a list of questions for your DVC rep and ask them all. Don't buy in unless you are completely comfortable.What has your experience been with the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) outside of Orlando?
I was also going to say check out www.disboards.com. I am not a DVC member yet, but I have gotten so much information from that site. The concensus does seem to be though that your points don't go as far. And I know they charge a $95 processing charge for any place other than Disney.
