Do you know the rules of flying? I am flying SW airlines to St Louis. Havent flown for 30 years.?

I know you have to put your stuff in 3ounce bottles. Is that for both carry-on luggage and the luggage that you check in? What about spray cologne that is in a bigger container or toothpaste. Does that all have to be 3 ounces or less? Can you bring food on your carry on like an unopened bag of coffee and sugar packets. My hotel has a coffee pot. Sounds dumb but before I call SW airlines I thought maybe someone who travels alot may know. SW airlines allows two suitcases and 1 carry on for free. You can put liquids that are more than 3 oz in checked bags. The 3 oz rule applies to anything you carry-on with you onto the aircraft. Therefore if your spray cologne and toothpaste are over 3 oz, put them in your checked bags. Southwest Airlines allows 2 checked bags to fly for free. Just make sure they weigh less than 50 pounds each. You are also allowed a carry-on bag and a personal item. The carry-on bag must fit into the overhead bin and the personal item must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you. You can bring coffee bags and sugar packets since they are not liquid. You can also bring food but just make sure it isn't something like soup.Do you know the rules of flying? The 3 ounce rule for liquid/gel/aerosol only applies to carry on bags, there is no limit on liquids in checked baggage at all. Spray cologne, toothpaste and any gel, lotion are all restricted under this 3-1-1 rule for carry on, and this means all containers and bottles must NOT be bigger than 3.4 oz/100 ml. You CANNOT bring a bottle of cologne that can hold 6 oz. even if there is only 1 oz left inside. All the 3.4 oz containers must fit into one single quart size plastic resealable bag. You can bring solid food including coffee beans or grind and sugar in your carry on.
