What are the beaches at on Jekyll Island?

We went to Amelia last year but it was a bit pricey. We love Emerald Isle NC because it's very quiet. We spend most of our time in the water or playing tennis but I've heard some bad things about jelly fish and brown water. What are the beaches at on Jekyll Island?
If you want crystal clear waters, JI will disappoint. The waters are murky. However, this is mainly due to silth and minerals entering the GA Coast from nearby beautiful marshes, not raw sewage.

It's true that jellyfish can be numerous at times but this mostly an issue around the deeper waters of the JI pier and the island's north end. The beachy areas are not infested. Beach authorities keep close watch on Jellyfish activities and wouldn't hesitate to post warning flags when medium to high risk is posed. I guess there's always the risk of running into a jellyfish when a human enters the Atlantic Ocean.

However, if you want wide beaches, JI is for you. If you want uncrowded beaches, JI is for you. If you want warm waters, JI is for you. If you want to walk 1/4 mile into the water and still only be chest deep, JI is for you. If you want non-touristy beaches, JI is for you. If you want nearly unspoiled costal beauty, JI is definitely for you. If you want an unassuming atmosphere, JI is for you. If you need to totally relax, JI is for you. If you want to enjoy one of GA's best kept secrets, head straight for JI.
