What do I bring/need for my airline trip to Florida?

I have never been in an airplane so i am not so sure with all the guidelines. What can we bring on our carry-on bag? Do the airplanes have dvd players or should I bring my own? What should i not take or wear on the plane. I am using SW Airlines.What do I bring/need for my airline trip to Florida?
i traveled on southwest in November for like the 5th time. i generally pack my laptop which has its own dvd player because sw wont have one for you. i also bring a suduko or cross word puzzle book cause laptops tend to die if you have a long flight. when i fly i generally get either really hot or really cold so u might want to bring a sweatshirt with you and wear a t shirt. you cant bring anything on that is sharp and pointy but if you go on southwest.com they have a list of things you can bring on the plane and things you should check. i recomend bringing a book or magazines along with you too depending on your flight they tend to go quickly. its generally takeoff people go to sleep and then your touching down you really dont realize how fast it goes.
